Here is a comprehensive guide on my step by step process to ordering your unique Feather.

Firstly, am I the right Artist for you?

I’ve put together the following guide to try and help as many people as possible to have the confidence to buy my original artwork.

However, if you like the look of my examples and think I may be the artist to help you then, please fill in the message section on my contact page.

I’m always happy to hear from people who are thinking about getting a bespoke work of art and there will never be a hard sell from me.

In summary, I’m a great choice if you:

  • want to work with someone that has integrity

  • want to work with an honest and hard working artist

  • want to be able to trust me with up to date information on the progress at every stage

  • want a beautiful, realistic fine art feather painted in acrylics

  • want a unique original piece of art that is displayed in a totally unusual way

  • want a work of art painted to last

  • want a piece of art that is the talking point

1: The Brief

Get in Touch

The first thing to do is get in touch! Leave me a message in the contact section or another option is to ring me on 07887601779. We can discuss your initial ideas and requirements.

During this initial chat we will discuss:

Who? The subject matter to be painted.

What? The structure, ideas and size of the feather. Any additional details such as if you would prefer framed or unframed. I can always send you a selection of items and their availability via email.

Why? Whether the feather is being commissioned for a particular reason (e.g. a surprise gift, retirement, anniversary, condolences etc.)

How? Whether it is from your photograph or just something I can do for you.

Where? Your finished item is to be posted/collected or hand delivered. Please note I can only post to the UK and Europe

When? Potential finish dates, approximate time-scales for the painting to be completed.

The Quote. (Please see price chart below).

After finalising the brief I will be able to provide you with a formal quote and client agreement that detail the full cost of the feather along with any agreed expenses such as postage.

I ask for 50% of the commission fee to be paid before I start the painting. The final 50% will be due once the feather is finished. Once the payment is made I will post the item

When you are happy with the quote and we are in agreement then I can begin the painting.

(Please note: the first payment is none refundable unless I have not started the art work)

2: The Look

Painting from Photos

If you would like your feather to be painted from your photographs, then I always advise that we discuss them. This means I can get as much information regards the finished piece. Sending a few photographs is the best option.

3: Reviewing the Feather
Finishing Touches

As the feather reaches completion I will invite you to review the painting. I usually email over a digital photograph of the work and invite your feedback.

As you are involved throughout the creation of the feather nasty surprises are avoided and if changes are needed then these are usually minimal.

When you are happy that the feather is complete, which was determined at the briefing stage. The feather is set aside to dry ready for it to be displayed. This is when the final and full amount of the commission is due.

The painting can take up to a week to dry.

4: Completion

Looking after your Feather

After completion and delivery of the feather, I’m only a phone call away to answer any questions and give advice to help you look after your special piece for years to come.

Please keep the finished piece out of direct sunlight

How long does the feather painting take?

As with any painting the time it takes is dependent on the structure and complexity of the piece and size of the feather used. However, as a guide, these feathers can take between 6 and 21 days to paint, sometimes having to allow for drying time between layers.

How much does it cost?
